Today we're happy to announce the release of the Buffer time feature, another highly-requested item from our "most wanted" list 👍.
Buffer rules enforce "gaps" or "breaks" between successive bookings. Such gaps are often necessary for teardown, cleanup, setup and/or changeover reasons (for example, a room or studio that staff need to "reset" after each use).
Buffer rules can be created by the venue owner in the Settings => Buffer Time section. Rules can vary by space, and each rule can have a different buffer duration. Here's an example of an owner creating one rule to enforce a 30-minute buffer around bookings for Studio 1, and another rule to enforce a one-hour buffer around bookings for Studio 2:
Non-admin users who make self-service bookings are then required to respect these rules. Here's an example showing a user that is exploring the options for making a booking in either Studio 1 or Studio 2. Skedda clearly shows the buffer periods around the existing bookings and displays an informative error if the user tries to violate them.
Note that admins can still book over the top of a buffer period if they wish (i.e. admins will see the buffers but they're not strictly required to respect them).
This new Buffer time feature is part of our Pro Pack offering.
We hope that this feature will be useful for your organization! As always, we invite you to reach out to our support team if you have any questions!
